The Miami-Dade County Commission recently voted to approve a land deal that will clear the way for the development of (By the way, the to give up a lease on public land wanted for the project.)
However, based on the , it seems like some locals are not too happy with the news.
Some folks are worried the land deal demonstrates a lack of concern for the well-being of Florida’s climate and environment:
Others see the project as something the county just shouldn't be focusing on. They believe other things are more worthy of cultivation -- particularly tech or engineering education.
And finally, some folks just plain don’t like it.
The mall --- and theme park, mini-golf course, skating rink, and artificial ski slope to name some of the project's amenities -- would cost about $4 billion to build and occupy 200 acres of west Miami-Dade. The developer, Triple Five, has predicted the project would create up to 25,000 jobs.
