About 850 churches, synagogues, temples and other houses of worship will have access to the same anonymous tipster app that more than 440 schools use in Broward County.
Sheriff Gregory Tony announced Friday the extension the agency’s SaferWatch partnership to the religious community so that users can report non-emergency incidents and crime tips in real time directly to the Broward Sheriff’s Office.
The mobile app is credited with stopping school shooting threats, arresting sex offenders, trespassers and burglary suspects, investigating drug cases, and preventing numerous suicides, officials said.
